A day with Stacey Prussman is a day of laughter. There are no other words to describe it.  Recently I had the opportunity to be on her show, The Prussman Hour. I was a guest with a few big named people like Carol Douglas (The first lady of disco), Rob Carpenter of the NY Jets, and Sabrina Nieves of the Cover Girls. Maya Rudy was also there, she is the owner of the first Orangetheory Fitness is Staten Island, along with Mike Bochetti.

Who is Stacey you ask?

Stacey Prussman is a comedian, an actress and a radio host. Ms. Prussman has appeared regularly on the Howard Stern Show, E!, A & E channel, Sirius XM, and is a host on the Emmy winning TV show, “Great Places To Live” on PBS. Stacey was honored in 2012 to be Nominated Female Performer of the Year by Campus Activities Magazine. Her jokes and quotes have been published in numerous books.

In 2014, Stacey became a syndicated radio host on, “Ears Wide Open” in Boston and Washington D.C. Stacey’s jokes have been published in Judy Brown’s books Squeaky Clean and Love’s Funny that Way, and in Jeffrey Gurian’s book Filthy Funny and Totally Offensive. She was also quoted in  Rosemarie Jarski’s Book “Words From The Wise,  6000 of the Smartest Things Ever Said.”

Aside from her performing career, Stacey is a national keynote speaker on Eating Disorders and Body Image at colleges, universities, treatment centers, and military academies across the country. She was named one of the top 10 Hot Speakers in the College Market by Campus Activities Magazine in 2014.

Jenna Rose has performed Off Broadway, been seen and heard on main stream media, and has recorded a song with Dionne Warwick. She has over 2 million views on her first video and it is still going strong. I was able to grab a few questions with her, check it out:

When did your family notice that you had a voice for the music industry? 

When I was two years old, I loved Shirley Temple films. I would dance all over the house pretending to be her. As I got older, my grandmother and my mother encouraged me to take dance lessons. I went to the Dickerson Performing Arts School. I took 3 dance classes and Musical Theater. I continued for many years and then auditioned for Community and Regional Theater where I landed many lead parts and then onto Off-Broadway at age 11, where I was the youngest and the lead in a show called The Odella Williams Show. I also had many agents at the time that felt I had the potential and had a quirky look.

How did it feel to be so young and have a hit song? 

I was thrilled at first, but when I started reading the comments… I became very sad. I questioned everything I worked so hard for. My parents always supported me and the theater world was like family, everyone worked as a team and encouraged each other. Seeing bad comment after bad comment was something you couldn’t ignore. Some of the comments said, “You’re so ugly. You look like screech.  You’re untalented and auto-tuned. Kill yourself.”

My parents were also angry and said if this is too much for ne, then I can stop and take a deep breath and take a break. I thought about this, and said to myself I am not a quitter; I need to prove to myself and everyone else that giving up is the easier route and I would continue on my journey and hopefully make it one day.

That is bullying! 

Yes, it was cyber bullying online and I dealt with bullying at school. When I started High School, I was afraid to go. There were rumors that I was the target of the school and that the older kids were waiting for me. My first day of school, I had pens and pencils thrown at me from a school bus, they were screaming my song My Jeans in my ear during lunch. It was so bad I was crying during lunch period (the principal witnessed it.) There was an actual Facebook page of what they were going to do to me. I went to school, held my head high, and since that day, everything is fine. I have made many friends and I’m now a senior.

Are you involved with any charities? 

I have done so many charities and am proud of each that I have done. Too many to list, but I’m always available to perform or help anyone that would like me to assist. I have a huge one next July that I am really excited about.

What do you do besides singing? Are you working or going to school?

 I am a senior in high school. I am planning my 17th birthday, which is on September 28^th.

What is your greatest achievement as of today?

  Hard question, but I think it goes back to when I was 11 and was cast with the professional Mercury Opera Company in the production of Pagliocci. As a pop /theater singer I never thought I would get the part. Not only did I have learn it all in Italian, but I had to sing opera. I always look back at that with a smile and a great sense of achievement.

What is your goal with your music? Do you wish to stay Indie or get signed and why?

  I would love to get signed and be recognized as a pop singer and open for my favorite singers and hopefully make my goal of being the main singer and have people open for me.

What can we expect, that’s new, for 2016?

    Well there are some things in the works, I do have a new song and the only one that I actually wrote called Mind Right. It’s on iTunes now. I am waiting on a possible tour and TV appearance.

Any Hobbies? 

Singing and rehearsals take up much of my time so I really don’t have any hobbies to speak of.

What is your biggest challenge in the music industry?

 For me, it’s the competition and being taken seriously as a singer and getting past the My Jeans video. I would love more people to notice me now.

Do you have a crush?  

 OMG! Of course, so many, but I’m going to keep that a secret. I have done so many concerts with boys that are now in all the pop magazines and came to my sweet 16 and we were friends and… well, I won’t say much more.
